Guangzhou, Tuesday

Scott is currently at the U.S. Consulate fixing our vaccination affidavit. Hopefully, all will be well. Addison has done well but at one point during our long walk this morning, he seemed upset. He was saying something in Mandarin several times so I finally asked someone what he was saying: "Where's daddy? I want my daddy." Sweet. When she told him that he was coming back later, he seemed mostly okay and let me hold him.

We're now back in the hotel room where we have to stay for a couple of hours to make sure that, while our guide is meeting with the officials at the consulate, there are not any questions / issues / problems. My little guy is watching Winnie-the-Pooh, as he turned on the dvd player and started it himself.

Can I just tell you HOW CUTE OUR SON is?!! He is so funny and is becoming affectionate, too. We get lots of kisses, although few hugs. I'm absolutely smitten.

Abigail - You and Addison will love eating noodles together. He likes them as much as you do.

Chloe - You're going to love running around screaming like a banshee with this guy. I suspect the two of you are going to get in great trouble together.

David - Finally! Someone to play cars with, but beware -- we're still working on the sharing concept. All of his toys are in his backpack right now: 3 Automan action figures, 12 VW Beetle play cars, a largish diecast police vehicle (complete with sound) and one Automan book. Enter the backpack at your own risk.

Emily - You can teach Kate how to survive brothers. I think she'll like him, but you and I know it's not all a rose garden. She'll need some tips on "taming didi."

Kate - You're going to LOVE your didi, Addison. He's silly and charming just like you. I think he's going to be scared at first, but your sweetness will help him feel right at home. As a bonus, I don't think he's going to take too many of your books, although he really likes Winnie-the-Pooh, especially Tigger, so you can make him feel welcome by showing him those books.

Godparents Cindy and Russ - There is NO WAY you'll be able to resist #3 after spending a little time with this guy. You might be exhausted now, but just wait 'til you meet him. He reminds me of Chloe and Kate in terms of his charisma and smile, but the rest is all boy. He loves airplanes and cars and splashing in puddles. And Cindy, you'll like this: He likes for things to be put in their place, just so. He will admire the organization of your pantry, refrigerator and entire house.

Grandmas, Grandpas, Omas and Opas -- We are going to have to watch you like a hawk, otherwise you will spoil this child! He knows how to work a crowd, much like his older sister. Don't be surprised if we say, "step away from the grandson!" (And Harley, we're pretty sure he can say "sonofabitch")

Love from China,

The Lucky Ones
