A Day at the Park

Above: Kate's best friends, Chloe and Abigail

QUICK UPDATE: Kate's CT scan was normal, but the eeg did show that she is having chronic seizures. The dumbass neurologist said, "she's having seizures, so here's the medication and the bloodwork to do." Um, thanks for all the information! We have an appointment with another pediatric neurologist in Orlando on February 5th to get more information and better care.
What I do know at this point is that the seizures are localized in the area of her brain most related to sensory issues, motor planning and facial muscles. Hmmmm.... Very interesting, considering Kate's issues are motor planning related, sensory related, and muscle tone related. Maybe, just maybe, we're getting close to more specific answers.....
Please keep our sweet girl in your prayers, though. She sure has a lot to deal with, but she's pretty darn tough. (And pretty damn cute, too!)

DTC!!!

Our dossier has been sent to China. It was sent either Saturday or Monday -- either way, I'm thrilled!

And we also got confirmation that Addison's orphanage received the Christmas cake and package I sent for him. It was delivered Christmas Eve -- right when I was thinking about his oh-so-cute face, I like to believe.

I figure my new job will keep me plenty occupied until LOA and travel. We realistically expect to travel in June, but I am praying and hoping for May.

Back to School!

After being home with Kate for over two years, I decided it was time to go back to school. Although I don't start teaching until Tuesday, tomorrow is my start day. It'll give me a chance to find out what the 9th graders have already been taught and what they most need to know.
I feel as nervous as when I first started high school back in 1984! At least I don't have to wear a green, plaid polyester skirt tomorrow with knee socks.
Although I loved Our Lady of Good Counsel, it wasn't the technology demonstration school for the county like this one is -- I cannot wait to see all the cool, geekie, technozoid toys.
More later,
Melissa

Prayer for 2008

If you are hungry,
may you find what fills you.

If you are thirsty,
may your curiousity never be quenched.

If you are angry,
may your fire find the right audience.

If you are joyful,
may you remember the broken-hearted.

If you are lost,
may you find your way home.

If you are powerful,
may you shelter the damaged.

If you are confident,
may God challenge you.

If you are in despair,
may God comfort you.

If you ARE,
may God bless you.
